Our Model

  • Once you fill out our interest form, a member of our national team will reach out to you for a Zoom call! We will provide you with the TLP Chapter Starter Pack, a go-to guide on how to successfully begin a TLP chapter at your school.

  • Working alongside TLP's national team, we will build out a plan unique to your school and community needs - including the student organization recognition and executive board growth processes.

  • Once students in your community are on board, it's time to locate local older adults who want to engage with TLP! This might come in many forms, such as partnerships with long-term care facilities, nursing homes, senior centers, and community-dwelling adults.

  • Students will be paired 1:1 with older adults in their community based on shared interests! Using a comprehensive list of interview questions created by TLP, older and younger participants will learn about one another's life histories. Students will then record answers in a secure, data-encrypted system for later review!

  • In a collaborative manner, older and younger match pairs craft the life history of their older match pair. The older match pair, too, may choose to craft a story about their young match pair. Both pairs will review as it is written to ensure an accurate account is recorded. Each student-match pair will produce a book chapter that will be compiled with others to create a complete book!

  • Utilizing resources provided by TLP, we will show you how to compile all the story chapters captured by match pairs to publish in a book. This book can be enjoyed by match pairs, families, and community members alike for years to come!
